Days of our Lives' Vanessa Williams shares that she is back in the shoes of her Salem alter ego, Valerie Grant. Will the call of grandbabies be what brings the fictional doc back to the canvas?

Fans of Days of our Lives character Valerie Grant are in for a treat. Portrayer Vanessa Williams confirms that she is back on set at the NBC soap opera, which means it probably won't be long until she hits viewers' screens.

Williams took to Instagram to announce her DAYS return, which she cheekily calls her "day job." She doesn't reveal further details about her upcoming appearance, but fans are speculating that Valerie is probably just dropping into Salem for a short visit in celebration of the arrival of her twin grandbabies. After all, it's only a matter of time before her son, Eli (Lamon Archey), and his wife, Lani (Sal Stowers), welcome their tiny tots into the world.

As for Williams, it seems as if she was called fairly last minute to step back into the role of DAYS' Valerie. She jokes in her Instagram post that she has "mad props and GRATITUDE" to her hairdresser, Heidi D Johnson of Sista Crown Keeper, for "coming thru with a quickness!"

Williams first took on the role of Valerie in October of 2016, when the cardiologist came back to Salem to help save Abe's (James Reynolds) life. She left the role in 2018, when Valerie took a job as chief of staff at her old hospital in Washington, DC. She has made several return appearances since, including for Eli's almost-wedding with Gabi (Camila Banus) and his wedding with Lani.

How do you feel about Vanessa Williams reprising her role as DAYS' Valerie? What do you think will bring the cardiologist back to Salem?
